Choon Wai believes in taking the time to understand her clients and suggesting a practical and reasonable way for them to move forward while protecting their interests. She has more than 20 years of experience working with individual and corporate clients from a broad spectrum.

Construction & property damage: She acts for property owners, contractors and MCSTs in court, arbitration, mediation and SOP adjudication proceedings, Strata Title Board applications, to resolve defective works, delay claims, damage to property and interfloor water seepage.

Property-related: She has also acted in disputes relating to property ownership, landlord and tenant, encroachment, easements and orders for sale. Clients include property owners, mall owners and tenants.

Family, Probate and Matrimonial: She acts for clients in divorce (including applications to vary order, for maintenance and personal protection orders), the preparation of the separation deed, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial deeds. She has been involved in contested and uncontested mental capacity applications. She is also a seasoned probate lawyer, handling applications for probate and letters of administration, re-sealing, trust matters, inheritance and estate disputes, distribution of assets and drafting the Deed of Family Arrangement.

Commercial disputes: She has handled a wide range of disputes including contract disputes, shareholder disputes, winding up actions, repayment of loans, accounts and inquiries etc.

Clan associations, charities, religious societies: She has advised clients on the removal and appointment of trustees, matters relating to the constitution, dealing with government agencies, acted for clients in disputes between management committee members and trustees.

General Advisory: Choon Wai also acts for clients in non-litigious matters including general legal advice to companies, MCSTs, societies and country clubs. She is on long-term retainer arrangements with several clients, advising them on various agreements, tender documents, employment issues, constitution and general meetings.
