Experience, specialisation and highlights

Menon was called to the Singapore Bar in 1962. He has been in legal practice all these years. He continues in active practice and is much sought after by his peers for his opinion, particularly in the areas of property and trust law. He has been described by former Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong in 2011 as “the most experienced property and trust lawyer in private practice”.

He has appeared in numerous cases in the courts, many have which have been reported in the law reports.

Menon has a true heart for service and has served in various capacities in many professional and non-profit entities, including as the President of the Strata Titles Board, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, President of the Law Society of Singapore (1980 – 1984), President of the ASEAN Law Association (1984 – 1986), Member of the Military Court of Appeal (1980 – 1990), President of the Strata Titles Board (1990 – 1993), Dy Chairman of the Board of Legal Education (1978 – 2001), Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee (1991 – 2004).

He is currently Chairman of Market Surveillance and Compliance Panel (Energy Market) and continues to serve as an active member of the Board of Governors of Symasia Foundation and the Editorial Advisory Board of Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore published by Butterworths, and the ASEAN Law Association.

For his service to Singapore, in1993, he was conferred the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) which is a public service medal  awarded to those who have rendered commendable public service in Singapore. He was also conferred the prestigious C. C. Tan Award (2004) presented by the Law Society to a member of the Society who exemplifies the ideals of honesty, fair play and personal integrity.
